The boat is sailing away. Yonder to face the blue sea. Where the mast is playing with the gracious winds and just let it passed away.

Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift.

I’m currently reading this complete and unabridged satire work of Jonathan Swift. This book is all about the voyage of a ship’s surgeon and castaway and he was stranded in an island where the size of the tiny inhabitants makes their concerns and quarrels seem ridiculous. This is not just a one piece journey in an island but to series of surrounding islands as well with different inhabitants from kingdom of giants, mighty sea-pirates, and talking horses with reasons.Yes-you’ve heard me right. This is a classical novel and it has been in my bookshelf for months and I just bought this from Powerbooks for just 50php. It may be cheap but the story is so expensive for bookworms like me. Well this is far different from the movie that we’ve seen in the big screen which was portrayed by Jack Black. Over 250 years on,it continues to appeal readers of all ages as both a travel book and a powerful satire.

Through My Viewfinder: A fine line... ›

“There is a fine line between being a camera owner and a photographer.”

Attending some lectures during the DPP 6th year anniversary was really an eye-opener for me. Not only did it allow me to learn new knowledge about photography, but made me go back to the beginning, to revisit the basics of…

Kabkaban Festival: First time.

The crowd is all over the town. The streets are full of colourful decorations. You can see happy faces and kids bringing their balloons while they are so excited to see this celebration that happens once in a year. It is always celebrated every year in the month of November. As a celebration and thanksgiving of all the blessings to their patron saint St. Catherine of Alexandria. And this only happens in the quaint City of Carcar, Cebu. Famous for their delicacies such as Ampao, Bukarilyo,Chicharon and many more.

The noise of drums are all over the place. The weather was way too cool and fine. Dancers are enjoying their traditional moves. And as for me I was there and as a souvenir of this festival I grab my camera which I am not ashamed to use it even though its just a simple point and shoot. My courage to take photographs of people that are moving was so tense. And I’m not the only one taking photographs at that time.I was with some consummate people and of course there are also a lot professional photographers together with their cool cameras and I was bit intimidated.

Yes, I tell you its my first time to join this kind of activity. I was sweating but good thing my hands weren’t shaking as I take photographs of people that are dancing, smiling and shouting with all their might.I always check my camera if its in good condition and before I joined this activity I always keep this on my mind to do things that will make me happy, and have a courage to do so.Despite of all the odds that happened during that day I was very happy because through my photographs I made a lot of people happy. This was a year ago but this holds a lot of memories and to all who just use a simple point and shoot camera don’t be shy and show you what you’ve got. Skills is more than equipment.
